MPH is one of the fastest rising stars in the NUKG scene, making waves both here in the UK and beyond, even recently selling out a headline Hollywood show. So as one of the poster boys of arguably the UK’s fastest musical export at the moment we had to catch him for a quick chat after he’d lit up the Dubtendo stage at this year’s Love Saves the Day.

“That was banging, busy as f*ck, so many people on stage, I’ve done Dubtendo before but that was mental, crowd were loving it”, MPH began emphatically bouncing off stage to serious cheers. Dubtendo have a fierce reputation in Bristol and with a packed out crowd for almost the whole weekend, it was hardly surprising that the set was so enjoyable. A bit of Calvin Harris all MPH needed to finish things off, “you can’t go wrong” in his own words.

The perfect place to get out there and spin some heat after his own new releases have been doing bits across platforms. Alone with Carla Monroe and Hold On coming just before have quickly grown momentum and for good reason with infectious energy and a distinct MPH sound. It’s been a process MPH shared with us though, “it’s part of a bigger project” but getting the tracks out have been in the “works for ages”, so getting them across the line have come as a relief.

As an artist that waiting process can be so hard but MPH’s approach seems very levelled, “sometimes it takes a minute, sometimes it doesn’t – you’ve got a lot of factors”, he admits, “but once it’s done you’re like ahhh done”. When we enquire about what the “bigger project” might entail it’s more smoke and mirrors though, “that’s all I can say right now” he laughs.

So we turn to what’s more certain, his plans for what looks to be a very busy summer, “a lot of gigs in the states, it’s popping there at the moment, just came back from EDC and got loads of more festivals there over summer”. The states have gradually become a stomping ground for UKG, massively expanding in the last year or so – something MPH credits to Virji, “Sammy’s doing God’s work over there”.

Even further afield his goals are simple, “hopefully still doing this, and just still doing what I’m doing now – how everything’s going now I can’t complain”. A clear and clean vision from the man with clinical tracks, we can’t wait to see what’s to come for MPH.
