Fresh off the back of a support slot for rising Hip Hop star ENNY last month and the release of her widely praised debut mixtape ‘Full Time Daydreamer’ earlier this summer, rapper BXKS, who hails from Northampton, via Luton, is showing no signs of slowing down. After receiving wide praise for her recent singles, ‘This Don’t Boom’ and ‘Must Feel’ BXKS has now revealed her latest track, entitled ‘Mean Amount’ a captivating, upbeat rap banger.

The track is driven by a nostalgic instrumental, the early 2000’s style Timbaland’esque flutes throughout compliment the drums and bass brilliantly creating a textured and engaging sound. Vocally, BXKS’s rapping draws you in through her catchy flow and self-assured lyrics as she confidently lays down how she feels on the track stating ‘‘broke as f*ck’ – “fantastic life that I’m seeking out, I’m bout to break this bank with a mean amount” her voice weaves brilliantly through the instrumental arrangements creating a flawless and polished UK rap sound.

The accompanying video, directed by Eddie Cheaba brilliantly represents BXKS’s charismatic personality. We see BXKS perform in her local area, weaving in and out of shops and hanging out on the sunroof of a huge car.

Speaking on the video, BXKS has said “‘Mean Amount’ video was so fun to film as it’s me performing around my local area. We shot in Dunstable just outside of Luton… I chose this area as it really captures what I’m saying in the video, which is me trying to make a better life for myself and escape my current situation. Each outfit change resembles some of the characters from Akira which is the inspo for the EP and single artwork”

A breath of fresh air in a crowded UK rap scene, BXKS has quickly gained a dedicated fan base thanks to her authenticity and musical consistency. BXKS grew up in an artistic family of Jamaican heritage with music being a big part of her life growing up with her family exposing her to various sounds throughout her formative years, something which gave her a love for music from a young age.

BXKS released her debut project earlier this year in June. ‘Full Time Daydreamer’ put BXKS on the map as an exciting and authentic newcomer on the scene and with the release of ‘Mean Amount’ and a new EP on the horizon, it is clear that BXKS has a huge few years ahead of her.
