Taylor Swift brings her Reputation Stadium Tour to Wembley Stadium and blows the crowd away
If you told me a mere week ago that my little self would be attending Taylor Swift's Reputation Stadium Tour then I would not have believed you. Our biggest show yet the ASBO crew went down to Wembley Stadium and were amongst the crowd of Taylor Swift fans who came out to see Taylor Swift in action.
The show was an incredible two hours of visuals, vocals, fireworks, four stages and just pure entertainment. Taylor Swift fans came out in full force to embrace and show their love for the singers with many dressing up in Taylor themed outfits, others carrying signs and just being plain loud throughout the night.
Before Taylor graced the stage she had not one but two opening acts, British singer Charli XCX and American singer Camila Cabello. Both girls did their part to get the crowd hyped and excited for Taylor with Charli bringing the party at 6pm like she does. Performing songs such as her hits Boom Clap, I Love it, Break The Rules, Unlock it, Boys, her new single 5 In The Morning and her fan favourite Fancy. Charlie built the energy of the crowd.
And continuing those vibes Camila Cabello also came out to bring an energetic, latina inspired performance included with dancers, salsa dancing and great vibes. Her setlist included her tracks Never Be The Same, She Loves Contol, Inside Out which included a section of Sean Paul's Get Busy, Bad Things as well as other songs from her debut album In The Dark and her hit single Havana.
As time continued after Charli and Camila and Charli the crowd waited anxiously for the arrival of Taylor. And as the music went down and the show started the audience were in for a treat that was to come. Opening with her single ...Ready For It Taylor made an entrance that set the energy of the crowd for the rest of the show.
The show was complete with production that was next level. Compared to her previous tour which was much more tamed compared to this, Taylor embraced her evloution in her new phase of life and artistry and gave energy and breathed life into the songs from the album.
Old time fans of Taylor Swift were not disappointed either as she did bring her classic songs spanning from her previously released albums which had at least one song from her previous albums. These included fan favourites Love Story, You Belong With Me, Should've Said No, We Are Never Get Back Together and my personal favourite Long Live. One night thing it's hard to connect with fans in a large capacity venue such as Wembley however that was not an issue for Taylor who clearly designed the show in order to do so. The main stage had two runways and there were an additional two stages towards the back of the area which saw Taylor utilising for a performance of Shake It Off including Camila and Charli. As well as, whipping out that guitar of hers we all love for an acoustic performance of Dancing with Our Hands Tied and So It Goes.
The connection between Taylor and herself was also a big moment in the show. The fans who were going loud and strong for a better part of 2 hours plus really have so much love for Taylor and everything that she is. As somebody who was observing the show and taking everything in one thing was that was prominent was how much Taylor's fans love her and how much Taylor loves her fans. At a point in the there was a moment which lasted about 5 minutes of just cheers and applause for Taylor. Even after everything she has been through (drama with Kanye West etc), it's clear that her fans are loyal to her. Taylor herself addressed this when talking about the fact that she took some time off after her 1989 tour to see if it was "possible to live a life outside of the spotlight" she mentioned the fact that she missed her fans and appreciated the fact that they were here and ready for when she returned.
For the first time playing Wembley Stadium really killed the show and left everybody in awe following the end of the show, the energetic and charismatic energy of the show left the crowd leaving the venue still singing and dancing happily as they made their way home. Highlights of the show included a special guest which Taylor is known for bringing every now and then and the guest of the night last was One Direction's Niall Horan for a performance of his track Slow Hands. Moments of the show that also stood out for me was the general production of the show the visual elements of the show which included a -3D type visual of snakes that really felt were on the screen and were coming. Additonally Taylor's snake throne as featured in Look What You Made Me Do, her dancers and backup singers all came out and brought that energy that added to the energy.
Overall the show showed the growth and evolution of Taylor as a performer and entertainer. The tour which is only in its second leg has already seen Taylor breaking records not just in the USA but also in the UK. Taylor became the first female artist to headline Dublin's Croke Park twice.
Taylor plays the second night at Wembley Stadium tonight before continuing the rest of her tour taking it back to the USA over the summer and playing a couple of shows in Austrlia in the autumn before ending in Tokyo. Fans that are yet to see the show are in for a treat as I'm sure will be more exciting and that 1% bettter each place it goes.
