Although it’s been over a year since his last solo single, 'At Night (I Think About You)', MNEK has been keeping a strong profile within the music industry by writing and producing hits for some of the most exciting names in the pop: Dua Lipa, Brayton Bowman, Jax Jones, and Becky Hill, to name a few. Last month marked his return as a solo artist, with the release of his Ultra Nate-sampling single, 'Paradise', and this week released the video to accompany it.

Premiered earlier this week, the video furthers MNEK’s progression into his artistry and songwriting - “#PARADISE is not for anyone wanting another Never Forget You or Ready for Your Love. I've grown up and so has the music,” MNEK wrote in a tweet shortly following the single’s premiere in July. In the video, MNEK takes a step back and puts another young person of colour in the limelight, walking through a fantasy world only to have the thought of threat and danger from police brutality lingering above them. In an email to The Faderto accompany the video, MNEK wrote, “police are supposed to protect us, and in the majority of cases they do, but unfortunately sometimes they abuse their power. It's a shame it's the world we live in, and it was important to show that in the video.”
