Following on from her signing to Jay-Z's very own Roc Nation last year, Tiwa Savage returned with the release of her new EP, Sugar Cane last week.

After releasing her second album last year, the Nigerian singer returned back in May with the single, All Over as a taster of things to come. Surprising fans with the six-track release, Sugar Cane hears Tiwa alternate between English and Yoruba lyrics on a collection of songs that show off Tiwa's silky tones.

Speaking to The Fader over email,  “I actually never planned to release anything before my official album drops next year so this is a surprise for my fans... I have been in such a great space in the studio and I've been creating so much music so it felt right to put out this project. The title is Sugar cane because the music sounded different and sweet to me. With Afrobeat music, I can't explain it in words you just have to listen and experience the magic.”

The new EP has already propelled the singer to reach the #1 spot on the iTunes World Chart, gaining approval from Coldplay's Chris Martin and making BBC's Women 100 list.
