‘This collection is a reminder to mankind that we have to keep our oceans in good health, as it is part of mother earth: the only place we can call home’.
The Inspiration was taken from the perennial problem of our polluted oceans. Mankind has been struggling to maintain the health of the oceans and to find ways to help the ecosystem recover.
The silhouettes of the collection reflect the destruction of our coral beds and trapped sea creatures. Working with a wide range of fabrics, which mimic the coral patterns of our oceans, including jacquard, satin, spandex, tinsel and raw-edged organza, the final collection symbolises the plastics and debris found in our oceans.
The colour palette predominantly reflects the ocean floor, mixing tonal blues, chemical hues, producing lurex and Ombre effects and adding deep gun metal grey shades.
