New Single: ‘Primitive Animals’ Out 4th July 2025

I: Tom Drain
Who Are ‘Hot Juice’ ?
I’m Shay, the frontman of the band and we consist of Jude on Lead Guitar, Harry on Bass and Alex on Drums. We’re a Brighton based Indie Punk band who originated from Jersey.
For someone that is yet to discover you, how would you describe your music?
Our music is energetic and exciting. We’re Indie punk using big riffs to get people moving. We’re want to give the best night to everyone that comes to our gigs.
What inspires you as a Band?
Musically we all come from different backgrounds. I’m into 2000’s indie, Jude loves more classic rock, Harry’s into Brit pop and Alex listens to the heavy stuff. We pull all of our interests to make up Hot Juice and we all want to give people a good time whether it’s at gigs or listening to us on your headphones. We want to provide a bit of escapism from life when it’s gets heavy.
What Is Yor Pre-Show Routine? Who’s The Diva In The Band?
We get all the boring bits out the way setting up and then catch up over a pint and get hyped for the show.
I reckon we all have our moments, but I know the boys would say I’m the biggest diva, haha!

Where do you feel you fit into the music landscape?
I’d say we fall between Indie and Punk, which naturally came when bringing all our influences and sounds together.
I feel like we have a unique mix of music to move to with playful lyricism who want to give the crowd full escapism for our set and we’ve been touring and can feel the gap every where we’ve been playing.
What are your favourite musical genres, and are there any you dislike?
As generic as it sounds I think we’re all pretty open minded, I don’t dislike anything pretty much every genre has its bangers. As a whole band wise it seems to be Indie, Punk, Brit pop, Rock and anything that catches our ear!
Is there a story behind you’re the new single ‘Primitive Animals’ ?
It all started when we were waiting at the bus stop after a practice and a mate read out a Facebook review where a bar manager called a group that came in ‘primitive animals’ and I was obsessed with that description of them. After that I was playing guitar and found a riff and after some fun with lyrics and it all came together.
What would you say is your greatest strength as an artist is ?
Definitely live shows, the energy of the tracks translates to crowds and we all feed off of the energy in the room. We always have a good time and so does everyone else in the room.
What would you say is your greatest weakness an artist ?
Finishing what we start before getting excited with the next idea and rushing on!
What can fans expect from your new single ‘Primitive Animals’ ?

A lot more weight leaned on the punk side of this track, the most so far in all our albums. We’re finding a newer more obnoxious sounding Hot Juice.
What music artist/band would you say have influenced your work?
I’d say with the new stuff a mixture of old and new British Punk from the likes of the Sex Pistols all the way up to Idles with taking lyrical inspiration from Pulps Jarvis Cocker. I love his word play and playful lyrical themes.
Who would you most like to collaborate with artistically?
Personally I’d love to work with Jack White, I love the rawness and energy they made in White Stripes from just the two instruments and had such a different sound in every album and project whilst still knowing its Jack White.
What was your worst performance?
There’s probably a few of them! Haha. But honestly I wouldn’t really say we have a worst I think collectively we enjoy all of the shows we put on, regardless what happens we’ve learnt to play together so well that we can make the best of pretty much any situation and have a laugh after or during it!

What was the most difficult obstacle you have ever faced and how did you overcome it?
Defiantly writers block at the start of trying a new project, usually at the very start when getting over exited but trying to find a starting spot can be tough and easy to keep procrastinating through getting overwhelmed. Just remembering to enjoy it and to try cool things and taking pressure off makes it so much easier.
What is your creative process when making music?
Usually starting with a guitar or bass riff, getting that in and all coming up with a part then meeting up at the practice room and trying it out altogether, and trying experimenting some cool new parts and just jamming until some magic happens.
