At the Talent Garden Calabiana in Milan, the Accademia del Lusso celebrated the collections of young designers inspired by the Italian director Federico Fellini . Baptized with the title “Oniricon”, the fashion show brought to the catwalk the prêt-à-porter and haute couture creations of the graduates of the academy’s triennial, inspired by the masterpieces of the Italian director such as “La Dolce Vita”, “La strada” and “Juliet of the spirits”. Among the references of the collections, a decadent elegance, the circus atmosphere and the contrasts between reality and imagination emerged. A total of 76 outfits that paraded on the catwalk, designed by 25 students from Milan and 5 students from Rome, divided into three areas – “Funky Town”, “Minimal Chic”, “Dreamy” – and each creation told a very specific vision with a point of view, transporting the audience into an aesthetic dreamlike journey.

Francesco Borando, the source of inspiration was the style of the author himself, the way he conveys thoughts, ideas and dramas through his films. The idea of my collection is to show the simplicity of forms in clothing, like the everyday life depicted in his works, but with a focus on details, such as people’s physical or psychological problems. The red slits on the trousers, the embroidered eyes and the handmade motifs are symbols of a society that remains mute and silent in the face of the psychological problems that lurk within, to which I have decided to give voice.

The inspiration for my clothes comes from the famous film La Strada by Federico Fellini. I decided to start from the concept of ‘wandering’, understood as wandering aimlessly, as happens to the two protagonists. From this starting point, I focused my attention on fabrics and the spatial concept they could occupy. I looked for unusual shapes, imperfection, and details that could evoke street life on the one hand, and a philosophy of soft colours on the other.
